The Sunbury Rotary Club donates a Honda mobility scooter to the Sunbury Community Health Centre The Sunbury Rotary Club recently donated a Honda mobility scooter to the Sunbury Community Health Centre. President Michael McCabe officially presented the scooter to Philip Ripper, CEO of the health centre.

The Sunbury community will remember the late Ron Geyer founding president of the rotary club as active member in the community. Later in life Ron remained a regular character in and around the streets of Sunbury on his distinctive red scooter. Since his passing Ron's scooters have been made available to others in the community who have a similar need. In past years the club has donated funds to assist the health centre support their clients in financial need. This year the rotary club identified the provision of a mobility scooter as a valuable community project.

Funds received through a successful community grant application to the RACV have been used in the purchase. The Rotary club appreciates the participation of Peter Ralph, RACV Sunbury and Darren Storace Sunbury Honda Motorcycles. The scooter will be used in the newly established Ron Geyer mobility program at the Sunbury Community Health Centre.

This is to provide assistance to clients waiting for government funding to aid in purchasing their own scooters. This wait at times is more than 12 months. Promptly after official handover the scooter was allocated to a centre client for use. Phillip Ripper CEO stated that, " The Community Health Centre was grateful for the support of Sunbury Rotary and the scooter would be a valuable resource to support clients with mobility issues."
